If you’re trimming a small palm tree, carefully prune fronds, flowers and fruit leaving at least 2 inches of greenery on the trunk. Seeds on some of the palms can even be toxic. While it’s not necessary to trim off seed pods from palm trees, removing them will not harm the palm.
Dec 01, Palms are naturally able to withstand the high winds that hurricanes bring, so removing fronds isn't necessary. In fact, it can seriously damage the palm tree. When pruning palms, only remove fronds that are completely brown and that hang below the 9 o'clock or 3 o'clock position.

Slice into the ground with a sharp spade between the Traveler’s Palm and any smaller shoots, called suckers, that appear from the ground near the trunk of the main plant.
